Pain, sorrow, anger, numbness, loneliness, these are all natural feelings we have when we are coping with the loss of a loved one. None of these feelings are wrong, rather they are the emotions that come with grief and are part of being human.
The Holy Bible explains ” A time to be born and a time to die…a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance” (Eccl 3:1-4). Grief is not a weakness or an imperfection, it is a necessary part of mortality. Jesus understood the pain of losing someone close to His heart. Jesus was deeply moved and wept at the loss of His friend, Lazarus.
God of the Bible who has created you, knows that you will experience grief in this life. He does not want you to go through it alone. He wants you to seek comfort. Matthew 5:4 says ” Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted”. Relying on the God of the Bible can relieve your sorrows. Pour out your soul to God in prayer. He mourns with you when you grieve. He wants you to be at peace. The Holy Spirit has the power to “comfort all that mourn” (Isaiah 61:2). Pain of grief is real, but so is the peace that comes from God. Jesus has promised ” peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you” (John 14:27)
